Movie and Book Reviews

Here are some reviews of the movies I've seen and books I've read.

Movie Reviews

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

This movie was a total laugh riot! It was funny most of the time and at some parts I had to pause the movie and take a few minutes to laugh and compose myself,  because I did not want to miss a minute of this movie. Definately worth a look. Go watch it now! If you have seen the commercials then during some parts of it you will be bored because you know what is about what is going to happen but its not that often and usually just a quick moment of it. 3.5 stars

Pursuit Of Happyness
Now, I saw this movie quite a while ago as it is a little older. But I saw it some of it last night on TV, and loved it all over again, so I had to add it here. It is about a man whose wife divorces him, but they have a child together who is around ten. The boy stays with the father, who is a salesman for this unknown product he made. But when he realizes that he won't be able to support his kid and him with this, he tries to find a new job. He tries to become a intern for this company and many cool, crazy, funny, stuff happens. For those of you that have seen it, don't you just LOVE the part where he goes into the interview, and the interviewer is like,"What would you say if a man walked here with no shirt on, and I hired him?" and he says "He must have been wearing some really nice pants."? Funniest part in the movie!!!!!!! For those who have not watch it, I recommend it. You might not get the part above, but in context, after watching this movie, you will laugh you but off.

Book Reviews

Magyk, of the Septimus Heap series, by Angie Sage

A great book if you like fantasy magic books. It is filled with adventure, mystery, magic, and suspense. It is surprising, and has a fantastic ending. It is about a boy who does not have a family, a big family of Wizards, and Magyk. This is one of my favourite books, I recommend it as a great read. It is a little thick but don't let that scare you, each page is filled with surprise and wonder. You won't be bored. 4 stars.

Just Ella

"Just Ella" by Margaret Paddix, is a wonderful book by an even more wonderful author. I have read a few of her books and loved every single one of them. She has the power to captivate her reader; you won't want to put this book down. It is about a girl, who, as the story unfolds, has an experience like Cinderella. Her father dies after marrying a lady with two daughters. When her father dies, the stepmother treats her like a slave to her and her daughters. One day when there is a royal ball, Ella disobeys her stepmothers orders to not attend the ball, and when she arrives, she meets the prince and you know the rest of the story. But after a while becoming a princess becomes hard. They all want her to be a fake little weak doll, instead of who she really is, a spunky farmer girl. She realizes that maybe she won't be getting her happily ever after, after all. But with the help of her friends, and her cleverness, she  will try get everything back to normal. Great book. Loved every minute of it. Read it, you won't be sorry! Has everything, from action to mystery, from adventure to romance(just a little). 4 stars.

Black, Red and White
I just finished reading these books, yes a realize a series, not a single book, but they were so good I had to review it. Black, the first one, starts off with a young man named Thomas Hunter, who, with his older sister, Kara, are being chased by a gang Thomas owes money to in Manhattan. He is eventually shot in the head here, and it looks like he is a bout to die. But when he is unconscious, he 'dreams' that he is in another world, where he escapes death in the black forest. He joins the people in the coloured forest(the good guys) and tries to figure out what happened. They come to the conclusion that he hit his head on a stone, as he has a head wound and woke on a rock. But when he falls asleep in one world, he is transported to the other one. Because of this transportation, he learns that Earth will soon die because some terrorists will get their hands on a virus that will kill humanity. Thomas tries to figure out how to stop this in this world and in the other gets information and skills to help the other one. This struggle continues on through Red, and White. But things are changing drastically in the other world for not only Thomas but all of the other people too. It is a greats series, probably my favourite and I really think you should try it, especially if you like action, fantasy, romance(a little) and thriller. Wonderful. 4.5 Stars. Only because I believe there is always room for improvement, and wont ever give 5/5 stars.
